The only native wildlife sanctuary in the Blue Mountains. Home to some of the most unique species of this area.

Visiting Secret Creek Sanctuary

Secret Creek Sanctuary is home to Eastern Quolls, Dingos, Koalas, Mountain Pygmy Possums, Tasmanian Devils, Long-nosed Potoroos, Rufous Bettongs, Spotted-tailed Quolls, Brush-tailed Rock-wallabies, Cream-striped Red-necked Pademelons, Swamp Wallaby, Emus, Brush Turkeys, Cape Barron Geese and a range of other native birds.

Secret Creek is situated in one of the most beautiful and unique areas on this side of the Blue Mountains. Although only 5 minutes from the centre of Lithgow, Secret Creek is tucked up in a tranquil and secluded gully, surrounded by natural bushland.

As a conservation sanctuary, most of our enclosures and habitats are designed first and foremost for the animals — especially the endangered species we work to protect. This means the sanctuary isn’t set up like a zoo, and you may not always see every animal during your walk. Many of our residents are shy, nocturnal, or prefer to stay tucked away in their naturalistic spaces.

For those of you who move quietly and take your time, Secret Creek offers something special: the chance to catch a glimpse of the more than 200 animals who call this place home, living in an environment created for their wellbeing rather than display. Every sighting is a privilege, and every visit supports the ongoing care and conservation work we do here.

Driving

We are 2 hours travelling west from Sydney or 45 minutes from Katoomba.
